New Coach House Now Open
The superb coach collection at Herberton Historic Village now has a new,purpose built home, The Coach House which opens today.
The collection of century old carriages features a sanitation wagon, horse drawn butcher and baker’s carts, a pair of phaetons, a magnificent horse drawn hearse, and a timber jigger compete with a 6 tonne log of rose gum.
The sturdy bullock drawn logging wagons were used all around the Tablelands. The impressive 13 foot x 5 foot 8 inches rose gum logs on this one cut by Frank Winkel in Ravenshoe and weights a massive 6 tonnes.
The new coach house has an all person access ramp, and visitors can inspect and photograph the accessible coaches in a spacious, purpose built environment.
